Wasp traps may help manage nuisance activity in outdoor areas, but they need a considered approach. They are different from treating an active nest.
Understand what is attracting the wasps
Food, drinks and waste around outdoor seating can attract wasps. Before adding traps, we look at the activity, how the space is used and any food or waste sources that can be better managed.
Keeping bins closed and clearing food and drink residues can be useful parts of the plan.
Placement and suitability matter
Our original article highlighted that the lure, trap position and surrounding conditions can affect results. Simply putting a trap beside the area you want to protect does not guarantee that nuisance activity will stop.
We can discuss whether a trapping approach is suitable for a garden, pub terrace or other outdoor space, and how it fits with wider management.
A trap is not a nest treatment
If insects repeatedly enter a particular opening or you can see a nest, tell us. That situation needs assessment on its own; catching passing wasps will not establish that a nest has been dealt with.
Ask before installing
Tell us where the problem occurs and when it is most noticeable. We will discuss suitable options for your site rather than promise that one trap can remove every wasp from the area.
