We assess whether action is needed and explain precautions and aftercare.

Do you have a nest?

Look for repeated activity at one entry point

A steady stream of wasps entering and leaving the same gap can indicate a nest. Common locations include roof edges, wall cavities, sheds, hedges and the ground. The nest itself may be hidden.

Watch from a distance

Note where activity is concentrated without approaching, disturbing or opening the nest area.

Keep the area clear

Keep children and pets away. Avoid blocking the entrance or attempting to disturb an active nest.

Tell us what you see

A description, postcode and photograph taken from a safe distance can help us plan the visit.

A few wasps around food or flowers do not necessarily mean there is a nest nearby. We do not treat individual flying wasps or hornets. A nest that poses no practical risk may be best left undisturbed.

01 · ASSESS

Check the nest and access

We identify the insect, assess the location and consider people, pets and non-target wildlife before choosing an approach.

02 · TREAT

Use a suitable method

Depending on the situation, we may use professional insecticide powder, liquid or aerosol equipment. Treatment is directed at the nest or its access point.

03 · ADVISE

Explain the aftercare

We tell you how long to avoid the area, what activity to expect and when to contact us if the nest remains active.

Wasp nest treatment costs

Our standard price applies to straightforward, easily accessible nests. The final charge may vary with travel, working height, difficult access, time on site or the need to enter loft spaces.

Let us know where the nest is before booking. We will explain any expected additional charges and confirm the work with you.

Payment options

We accept cash, card, cheque and bank transfer. Bank transfer is our preferred method.

Identification matters

Wasps, bees or hornets?

If you are unsure, send a clear photograph taken from a safe distance. We do not carry out treatments to exterminate honeybees or bumblebees.

We can discuss honeybee swarm collection or specialist colony removal from buildings. The options depend on the location and access.

Suspected yellow-legged (Asian) hornet?

Yellow-legged Asian hornets have a darker body, one broad orange band and yellow leg tips. This illustration is a comparison guide; use the official identification information below to check a suspected sighting.

Report suspected sightings through Asian Hornet Watch or the official reporting service. Do not approach or disturb a suspected nest.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to remove the nest?

Treatment and physical nest removal are different services. An inaccessible nest may be treated through its entrance. We will explain whether removal is necessary or practical and any additional cost.

What if I have more than one nest?

Additional nests treated during the same visit cost £40 each. Tell us about all suspected nest locations when you enquire.

How quickly will treatment work?

This depends on the method, nest location and level of activity. Your technician will explain the expected timescale and the period to avoid the area. Contact us if activity continues beyond the advice given.

What happens if the treatment has not worked?

We return without a further treatment charge if the same treated nest remains active. Get in touch so we can check whether activity is from that nest or a separate colony.

Do I need to be at the property?

We prefer someone to be there for the initial visit. Internal or loft treatments require agreed access, and we assess the area for non-target wildlife before treatment.

Can you treat a nest high up or inside a roof?

We have professional equipment for many elevated nest locations. Access, height and the condition of the property determine what can be done. Send photographs and details so we can assess the job and quote.

What should I do around children and pets?

Tell us about children, pets and other animals before the visit. Keep them away from the nest and treated area, follow the technician’s access advice and do not touch treatment residues.

Do all wasp or European hornet nests need treatment?

No. We consider the nest location and the risk it presents. If it can remain undisturbed without creating a concern for people or pets, leaving it alone may be appropriate.
