Spot the signs
Noise alone does not confirm the pest. A survey helps distinguish squirrel activity from rats, mice or other visitors before any work is agreed.
Scratching, scurrying or gnawing sounds, often during daylight, can be a sign of squirrels using roof spaces.
Look for gnawed timbers, disturbed insulation, damaged fascia boards or gaps near the eaves.
Repeated visits to the roof and stripped bark on trees can help us understand where activity is concentrated.
How we help
We assess the signs, likely access points and property risks, then explain the recommended work and quotation.
We use appropriate approved methods, secure equipment placement and scheduled follow-up checks suited to the site.
Once activity has been dealt with, we discuss proofing and any repairs needed to reduce future access.
Grey squirrels in lofts and roof spaces can damage woodwork, insulation and wiring. We assess safe access and choose a suitable programme, including secure spring or CO₂ traps where appropriate.
We also assess squirrel damage at tree nurseries, golf clubs and woodland sites. Management may include trapping or a suitable shooting programme, with remote cameras used to support monitoring where helpful.
Protecting your property
Removing squirrels does not repair the opening they used. We can advise on vulnerable roof edges, vents and other gaps, and discuss suitable proofing as part of your quotation.
Entry points should be dealt with at the right stage so animals are not sealed inside. Structural repairs or specialist electrical work may need a separate contractor.
Your questions answered
It depends on the activity, access and site. A programme normally involves follow-up visits rather than a single appointment. We will explain the expected timetable after the survey and review progress as the work continues.
We assess the site and position equipment securely to manage the risks. Your technician will explain any precautions. Keep children and pets away from control equipment and do not move or open it.
We do not offer catch-and-release relocation for grey squirrels. Releasing captured grey squirrels into the wild is not permitted in England. Our technician will explain the suitable control methods and animal welfare considerations.
They may return if entry points remain available. Proofing can help reduce the risk, but no treatment can guarantee that another squirrel will never approach the property. Proofing or repairs are quoted separately where needed.
No. Seeing a squirrel outdoors does not automatically mean treatment is needed. We focus on the activity, damage and risks at your site before recommending work.
Note where and when you hear or see activity and send photographs of any damage if you can do so safely. Do not block suspected entry points before speaking to us. Let us know about loft access and any pets at the property.
Depending on the work and quotation, payment may be required upfront or at the end of treatment. Payments on each visit may be agreed to spread the cost, at the technician’s discretion.
