Wasp advice
Before arranging treatment, it helps to understand what you are seeing. Wasps visiting flowers, an active nest and a honeybee swarm need different responses.

Wasps, bees or a swarm?
A cluster of insects on a branch or building may be a honeybee swarm rather than a wasp nest. Keep your distance and seek identification before arranging the wrong service.
The British Beekeepers Association provides information about honeybee swarms. An established colony inside a building needs a different discussion from a temporary swarm.
Suspect a wasp nest?
Repeated flights to the same roof gap, vent or sheltered spot can help locate activity. Observe from a safe distance, and do not block the entry point or disturb the surrounding materials.
We assess whether treatment is necessary based on the nest location and the risk to people using the area.
If someone is stung
Use the NHS guidance on insect bites and stings for treatment and when to seek help. Call 999 for a suspected serious allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing or sudden swelling of the mouth, throat or tongue.
Clear advice before a visit
Tell us what the insects look like, where they are and how the area is used. A safely taken photograph may help. Our current wasp page explains treatment options, pricing and aftercare.
